What is a Form 6847?

Form 6847 gives the IRS permission to release your information to the State that participates in the   Combined Federal State Filing Program (CFSFP).  When filing your 1099's through our efile software you do not need to file this form. 

IRS Combined Federal State Filing Program (CFSFP) Through the CFSFP, the IRS/MCC will forward original information returns, filed electronically to participating states for approved filers.

The following forms are included in CFSFP:  1099-B, 1099-DIV, 1099-G, 1099-INT, 1099-MISC, 1099-OID, 1099-PATR, 1099-R and form 5498.

The following States are participants: Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Jersey, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, South Carolina, and Wisconsin as detailed in IRS Publication 1220.

Not all states participate in this program such as tax free states like Nevada, Florida, Washington, Wyoming. If you have questions regarding state filings we suggest that you speak with your CPA Accountant or Tax Attorney for further clarification.
