How to import Prior Year Company Employee Data (ACA)

Note: You need to purchase the software yearly to be in compliance with the IRS & you will not be able to skip years when importing data. 

Example: Software ACA 2022 data will NOT import into Software ACA 2024.

Importing Prior Year Company & Employee Data (All Companies):

1) Select Utilities from the menu bar then select Import Prior Year Company & Employee Data

2) Select All Companies

3) Click Import

4) After the import is complete a screen will appear confirming “All previous year data has been imported successfully.”

5) Click OK.

 Import Single Companies:

1) Select Utilities from the menu bar then select Import Prior Year Company & Employee Data

2) Select Single Company

3) Select the company you want to rollover

4) Click Import.

5) A pop-up message will appear confirming the company selected has been imported.

6) Continue steps 4 and 5 until you have rolled over all desired companies.

7) When finished, click Close.

Note: If your computer finds more than one database to rollover you will be prompted to select which database you want to rollover. TaxRight, Laser Link, ACA all use the same Date Base. You will need to navigate your way through finding the Data Base on your Computers Local Hard drive. If needed you can contact your IT Administrator to search for Database using the below information. 

Location of Database in Software as follows:

C:\Program Files (x86)\TaxRight for 20##\Database\DataFile\TaxSoftware_20##

or

C:\Program Files (x86)\LaserLink for 20##\Database\DataFile\TaxSoftware_20##

or

C:\Program Files (x86)\ACA for 20##\Database\DataFile\TaxSoftware_20##

Database may be located in (Program Files) folder but Software/database must be installed within Program Files (x86) Folder Only.  It is NOT recommended to Move or Copy the Database File. 

What if I receive "Please select other tax database" Error Message? 

If you receive this Error when importing you most likely do not have the prior year software installed on exact same computer, using incorrect Database "or" you are attempting to import a blank database. Please access your Windows Control Panel > Programs & Features in order to verify software is in fact installed on same PC & Open your previous year software to verify there is data such as payers/recipients.
