How to import Prior Year Data after installation

NOTE: (Software does not skip years when importing data). You will need to have prior year software installed on exact same computer that is running current year software in order to import data. You will be able to import "All Payers" or "Single Payers". 

Importing All Payers when first installing software:

Note: Highly recommend to create back up file prior to importing data & save to flash drive or desktop. 

1) Open software and use Product Key Code to activate the software and it will automatically search for previous year data. 

2) If data is found, the Prior Year Data Import screen will appear and you may proceed to import data. 

NOTE: If your computer finds more than one database to rollover you will be prompted to select which database you want to rollover. TaxRight, Laser Link, ACA all use the same Database. You will need to navigate your way through finding the Database on your Computers Local Hard drive. If needed you can contact your IT Administrator to search for Database using the below information. 

Location of Database in Software as follows:

C:\Program Files (x86)\TaxRight for 20##\Database\DataFile\TaxSoftware_20##

or

C:\Program Files (x86)\LaserLink for 20##\Database\DataFile\TaxSoftware_20##

or

C:\Program Files (x86)\ACA for 20##\Database\DataFile\TaxSoftware_20##

If you receive "Select Another Database" error message then you are not using correct database file. Database may be located in (Program Files) folder. Software/database must be installed within Program Files (x86) Folder Only.  It is NOT recommended to Move or Copy the Database File. 

3) Select All Payers

4) Click Import

5) After the import is complete a screen will appear confirming “All previous year data has been imported successfully"

6) Click OK

Importing Single Payer after installation:

1) Located under Utilities tab Select Import Prior Year Payer & Recipient Data

4) Select Single Payer

5) Select the company you want to rollover

6) Click Import

7) A pop-up message will appear confirming the company selected has been imported

8) Continue steps 4 and 5 until you have rolled over all desired companies and when finished click Close

NOTE: Software will not import dollar amounts from previous year software. 

What if I receive "Please select other tax database" Error Message? 

If you receive this Error when importing you most likely do not have the prior year software installed on exact same computer, using incorrect database "or" you are attempting to import a blank database. Please access your Windows Control Panel > Programs & Features in order to verify software is in fact installed on same PC & Open your previous year software to verify there is data such as payers/recipients.
